Chin up is a fantastic exercise and will target both short head and long head of biceps quite well. Shoulder width grip (or a bit wider) should hit the long head the most. Your latissimus dorsi is the most dominant muscle in the chin up. Focus on feeling the biceps working and do slow and controlled repetitions.
Can Pull-Ups build mass?
A Weighty Matter. If your goal is to build muscle, push-ups and pull-ups will definitely add to your muscle mass if you do enough of them. But it’s worth keeping in mind that resistance training with heavier weights that bring you to temporary muscle failure after six to eight reps are likely to build muscle faster.
Is 10 chin ups good?
Chinups and pullups are great for engaging your back/core/biceps/forearms/rear delts. Even without weight, they will do you a ton of good. If you can do an all out set of 10, then I suggest you start by doing 4–5 sets of 6–8 pullups every other day.
